For lenders

Evidence the applicant was at the address on the application.

At the time the check was run, on a real phone, with a guided capture at the door. Presence, not a document check.

You don’t run the check. Your brokers do, before they submit, and the report comes to you with the application.

Cifas, Fraudscape 2026 — fraud recorded in the UK in 2025

The document isn’t the problem. The person is.

Of every sixteen fraud cases Cifas recorded about who was applying, fifteen were someone using an identity that wasn’t theirs. One was false or withheld information on the application.

Someone else’s identity
More than 242,000 identity fraud cases — a real person’s details used by someone who isn’t them.
False or withheld information
More than 16,000 false application cases — Cifas defines these as false information, or details left out, given to obtain a product or service.

The other fifteen carry a genuine document, belonging to a genuine person. A document check passes it, because the document is real.

“more individuals are selling or sharing their identity documents under financial strain, creating increased opportunities for misuse”Cifas, Fraudscape 2026

A face check confirms a face matched a document. It doesn’t confirm who’s holding it, or where they are. Was the applicant at the address on the application? That’s what DoorID shows. Presence is proof.

Cifas, Fraudscape 2026 — identity fraud and false application cases recorded to the National Fraud Database in 2025, published 12 March 2026. Shown as fifteen in sixteen. The categories are Cifas’s own; identity fraud was more than half of all 444,993 cases recorded that year.

Keep your identity checks. DoorID sits alongside them.

What you receive

One report, and it is the same report whoever ran the check.

A DoorID result is a PDF. Page one is the result and the reasons, the licence beside the selfie, and what was captured at the address.

What the first page shows you

The result and the reasons. Pass, Refer or Fail at the top, and the reasons underneath, so you can see the decision without reading the rest.

The licence next to the selfie. The document the applicant showed and the face that showed it, side by side with the comparison score.

The address evidence. What the applicant captured at the property, against the address on the check, with the date and time.

See a Pass and a Refer, and download either PDF.

What a result is

  • Pass, Refer or Fail, with the reasons in plain words.
  • The licence next to the selfie, with the comparison score.
  • What the applicant captured at the address, against the address on the check.
  • The date and time they did it.

A result about physical access to the address. Not a lending decision, and not a view on the customer.

Refer means a person should look. The report shows why, and the decision stays with whoever is deciding.

Is it a lending decision?

No. It is a result about physical access to one address on one occasion. What you do with it is yours to decide, and so is everything else in your process.

Does it establish identity or residence?

No. It shows a person completed a guided check at the declared address at a time the sender chose. It does not say who they are or that they live there. Keep your identity checks.

Does it cover anyone’s liability?

No. Whatever your agreements with your brokers say, they still say it. DoorID is evidence in the file, not an indemnity.

Does DoorID send you a broker’s result?

No. A result belongs to the account that ran the check. The broker sends you the report, or you run the check on your own account.

How it fits your broker flow

You are not in the first two steps.

The check runs between the broker and the applicant. What reaches you is the result.

Step 1

Your broker sends the link.

From the DoorID portal, to the applicant’s phone, before the application reaches you. One text, with a link.

Step 2

The applicant does the check at the address.

Their licence, a selfie inside the home and the open front door, on a phone in a browser. No app to download, no account to make. About two minutes of their time.

Step 3

The result comes to you with the application.

The broker gets Pass, Refer or Fail with the reasons and the report, and attaches it. You read it in the file, or take it into your own systems over the API.

In the file

Ask your brokers to attach the DoorID report to the application. It is one PDF, the broker keeps a copy, and the same report reaches you whichever broker sent the check.

A result belongs to the account that ran the check. DoorID does not pass a broker’s result to you on its own.

Over the API

If you want the result in your own systems rather than an inbox, run the check on your own account. DoorID is a REST API with signed webhooks: create the check, receive the result as a signed webhook, and pull the evidence pack as a PDF in one request.

Create a verification · Webhooks · Evidence — the full API reference.

Next step

Ask for the report.

Tell your brokers to attach a DoorID result to the application. If you want it over the API, start with the docs. If you would rather talk it through, ask us.

Want to see one application walked end to end, from the broker pressing Send to the report in your file? Read the worked example. Brokers have a page of their own.
