For brokers

If a fraud gets through, whose loss is it?

On a lot of agreements, yours. Not the commission — the car. Tens of thousands of pounds, out of an owner-managed business.

You don’t need many.

DoorID shows you, before you submit, whether the customer was at the address they gave you.

  • About two minutesof the customer's time, at the address.
  • A phone and a browserno app to download, no account to make.
  • One text from youabout ten seconds at your end.

First 10 customers free, then £2 a customer. No minimum. No contract.

A person checks every new account. Then your 10 free customers are ready.

Why this exists

We built it for ourselves first.

We run a car finance brokerage. Early on, a handful of fraud cases could have finished it. Nobody sold the one thing we needed — was this person really at that address? So we built it.

Quick Car Finance is our founding customer and shares our founders; it uses DoorID to protect its lenders and its own commission line.

  • 35%the rise in theft-of-asset filings relating to asset finance products, reported by Cifas in Fraudscape 2026.
  • 444,000+cases recorded to the National Fraud Database in 2025, the highest Cifas has recorded in a single year — 6% up on 2024, and more than 1,200 a day.

Cifas, Fraudscape 2026 — published 12 March 2026, covering cases recorded to the National Fraud Database in 2025, with a six-month update covering January to June 2026.

What happens today

There is no standard.

DoorID is not replacing a system. On this question there isn’t one — every broker has built his own.

You make your own assessment. So does every other broker, differently.

You try to break the application yourself, and you are good at it.

When that is not enough, you ask other brokers whether anyone has seen the name before.

That is not carelessness. It is improvising, because nobody has handed you the one fact that would settle it.

Cifas, Fraudscape 2026 — fraud recorded in the UK in 2025

The document isn’t the problem. The person is.

Of every sixteen fraud cases Cifas recorded about who was applying, fifteen were someone using an identity that wasn’t theirs. One was false or withheld information on the application.

Someone else’s identity
More than 242,000 identity fraud cases — a real person’s details used by someone who isn’t them.
False or withheld information
More than 16,000 false application cases — Cifas defines these as false information, or details left out, given to obtain a product or service.

The other fifteen carry a genuine document, belonging to a genuine person. A document check passes it, because the document is real.

“more individuals are selling or sharing their identity documents under financial strain, creating increased opportunities for misuse”Cifas, Fraudscape 2026

A face check confirms a face matched a document. It doesn’t confirm who’s holding it, or where they are. Was the person at the address they gave you? That’s what DoorID shows. Presence is proof.

Cifas, Fraudscape 2026 — identity fraud and false application cases recorded to the National Fraud Database in 2025, published 12 March 2026. Shown as fifteen in sixteen. The categories are Cifas’s own; identity fraud was more than half of all 444,993 cases recorded that year.

Keep your identity checks. DoorID sits alongside them.

How it works

Three steps, and you are out of the chase.

Ten seconds of your time. About two minutes of theirs.

Step 1

You press Send. The customer gets a text with a link.

From the portal, on any device. About ten seconds.

The DoorID screen a customer sees when they open the link in the text: who is asking, what they will do, and how long it takes.
Step 2

At the address they photograph their licence, themselves, and the door.

About two minutes. No app and no account.

The DoorID coaching screen at the address, showing the customer what to photograph and how to stand back from the building.
Step 3

You get Pass, Refer or Fail, with the reasons and the report.

Refer means a person should look. You decide — DoorID gives you the evidence to decide on.

The DoorID screen the customer sees when they have finished: their part is complete and the sender will be told the result.
The report

This is what you get — including when it is not a Pass.

Two real reports for a made-up customer: one Pass, one Fail. The name, address, licence and photos are invented, and every page is marked as a fictional demo.

First page of a fictional DoorID evidence pack ending in Pass: the result, the licence next to the selfie with a 96.8% face match, and every check passed.
PassThe licence matched the face, and the capture happened at the declared address.Download this one (PDF)
First page of a fictional DoorID evidence pack ending in Fail: the licence shows a different person from the selfie, and the identity match failed.
FailThe face on the licence was not the person at the door. The report shows why.Download this one (PDF)

What the report shows you

The result and the reasons. Pass, Refer or Fail at the top, and the reasons underneath, so you can see the decision without reading the rest.

The licence next to the selfie. The document the customer showed and the face that showed it, side by side with the comparison score.

The address evidence. What the customer captured at the property, against the address on the check.

What you keep

Your report stays available in DoorID for 7 days after the check finishes. Download and keep it — your copy is the record.

A licence captured ahead of a check is kept for up to 60 days so the customer is not asked for it again, and up to 180 days from capture if later checks rely on it. You can shorten both for your account.

Removal of identifying data runs from your account's Retention Start Date, which is shown in your portal and which we tell you when we set. Before that date it is held securely and removed whenever you tell us to. Read the retention policy.

Straight answers

What DoorID does not do.

Four things you might reasonably assume. The answer to all four is no, and you should hear it here rather than find out later.

Does it stop a fraud?

No. It gives you one fact you did not have before you submitted. What you do with it is your decision, and so is everything else in your process.

Does it cover your liability?

No. Whatever your agreements say you carry, you still carry. DoorID is evidence you can put in the file, not an indemnity.

Does it make you compliant?

No. Your obligations are yours. This is a piece of evidence you can show someone later, nothing more.

Does it replace your ID checks?

No. Keep them. This sits alongside them and answers the question they were never asked.

What it is
  • A live check that the customer can get into the declared address, at a time you choose.
  • Evidence you can put in the file and send on.
  • A report you keep.
What it isn’t
  • An identity check on its own — keep yours.
  • A statement that someone lives somewhere.
  • A credit or affordability tool.
Pricing

£2 a customer. First 10 free.

No minimum. No contract. Billed on the 1st for the previous month. Card or Direct Debit.

A full journey — licence, address, handover — is one charge of £2.00, however many of those checks it takes. Set that against the car sitting on your agreement, and whose loss it is if the finance turns out to be fraudulent, and decide for yourself what fraction of the exposure it is.

  1. 1You ask for an account.
  2. 2You confirm your email address.
  3. 3A person reviews the account.
  4. 4It is switched on, and your free checks are there.

A person checks every new account, usually within 24 hours. We will email you as soon as your account is open.

Questions

Questions brokers ask.

Every answer is here. Nothing is behind a click.

What does the customer need?

A phone with a camera, location switched on, and its own browser. If they open the link inside a social app, some in-app browsers cannot ask for location — the screen tells them to reopen it in Safari or Chrome.

Does the customer need an app?

No. A text with a link, and a browser.

How long does it take them?

About two minutes at the address.

What do I get?

Pass, Refer or Fail with reasons, the report by email, a text if you want one.

What if it is a Refer?

A person should look. The report shows why.

What if the customer cannot do it?

You see that too. An unfinished check is a result, not a silence, and you decide what it means.

Does it replace my ID checks?

No. It sits alongside them.

Can the lender see the report?

You keep the report and you decide who sees it. DoorID does not send it to a lender for you.

What happens to the customer's data?

Your report stays available in DoorID for 7 days after the check finishes. Download and keep it — your copy is the record. Removal of identifying data runs from your account's Retention Start Date, which is shown in your portal and which we tell you when we set. Before that date it is held securely and removed whenever you tell us to.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Send a check from the portal on any device.

What does it cost?

£2 a customer; the first 10 are free; no contract.

Find out before you submit.
